Self Knowledge, Mindfulness and Meditation

Unlock the doors to your own mind… How knowing yourself can help you achieve your life intentions and goals.

You may have heard before the adage, ‘Know Thyself’, which was written on the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi to inspire all who resonated with self-exploration as a way of attaining self-knowledge and liberation from suffering. Legend has it that the seven sages of ancient Greece, philosophers, statesmen, and law-givers, who laid the foundation for Western culture, gathered in Delphi to inscribe “know thyself” at the entry to its sacred oracle. The adage subsequently became a touch-stone for Western philosophers and continued extending its reach as the influence of Greek philosophy expanded.

Maybe this adage resonates with you at this point in time, or maybe it doesn’t. Either way, you, as a soul, are on your path to spiritual enlightenment and you will get there no matter what path you choose to follow. All of that said, if it does resonate with your intentions at this moment in time, then understanding when, where, how, and why knowing yourself is important can accelerate you on your path now.

If being self-aware, mindful, conscious, and more in tune with yourself, the people around you, and the world as a whole is important to you, then knowing yourself will support you in your process of achieving those intentions and more. Simultaneously, being self-aware, mindful, conscious, and in tune will also help you to get to know yourself better.

Have you ever contemplated what happens when you continuously enhance your process of knowing yourself? You gain the capacity to accept, love, and forgive yourself unconditionally, more accurately understand and feel compassion for other people, get out of self-judgment, criticism, and any tendency to punish yourself for your supposed mistakes and flaws, assess with more precision what your priorities are and what is truly meaningful and fulfilling to you, gain a more comprehensive perspective of the world and how it all works, feel better about yourself and your life, and focus constructively on achieving your life intentions and goals…

You may wonder how you might accomplish such an intention? One of the easiest and most powerful ways of knowing yourself is through meditation. In meditation, we intend to quiet the mind without force so that we can penetrate into the deeper levels of our subconscious and unconscious minds and begin to really understand when, where, how, and why we think, feel, fear, believe, react, and behave as we do. In this altered state of consciousness, that is free of judgment, aversion, attachment, and fear, we gain the insights necessary to make permanent changes in our lives so that we can feel good and accelerate towards our true intentions and goals.

Meditating for just 5 minutes a day can lead to improvements in your health, level of relaxation and well-being, relationships, business acumen, focus and concentration, success at work, the flow of abundance and money in your life, and much more. In less time than it takes you to make coffee, you can achieve great things, enhance your experience of life, and accelerate towards spiritual enlightenment.
